Michael Carnes has addressed this restriction in R4, and in doing so, has turned the EQ section into a powerful creative tool. On The MoveĬompared with standard algorithmic reverbs, the R2 feature set was lacking only in one area: it offered only a single band of EQ.
#Valhalla room nimbus for mac os
Like all of the company’s products, it’s available for Mac OS and Windows in all the usual native formats, and is authorised using the iLok system.
Nimbus is, at heart, a souped-up PhoenixVerb, while the latest release is R4, a development of R2 which takes its basic concept to new places. Since R2 and PhoenixVerb were reviewed in SOS March 2014, Exponential have been building on them to create another, more versatile pair of algorithmic reverbs. These complement one another nicely, with R2 offering a little ‘vintage digital’ character to contrast with PhoenixVerb’s cleaner and more modern sound. Instead, the focus is on creating artificial reverberation that just works in a mix, and my own mixes have certainly benefitted from the attentions of their R2 and PhoenixVerb plug-ins. In the classic Lexicon tradition, they don’t generate perfect simulations of real acoustic spaces, or minutely detailed recreations of some hallowed EMT plate. But I will give it another go.Exponential Audio have hot-rodded their ‘character’ reverb, and the results are even more characterful!įounded by former Lexicon engineer Michael Carnes, Exponential Audio offer a range of algorithmic reverb plug-ins to suit most uses and pockets. It doesn't sound like a real space to me, it has a "sound", I can hear it in the mix as Valhalla Room reverb. It's true what people say: Buy both, as they compliment each other.Well, I've had VRoom since early 2013. I have VVV as well, but that can also sound bad on a lot of stuff, if you don't dial it in. But rest assured, VRoom will put a very big smile on your face after only spending a few hours with it.
#Valhalla room nimbus how to
I don't even know how to use reverb that well. So maybe simulating drums or guitar that exists in wtf amount of space won't sound good. It's true what people say: Buy both, as they compliment each other.
I get no discount from Valhalla for recommending their products. Then again, I only tackled it by persevering and seeing 'what does this knob/slider do?'. I took a very long time to get into Room, thinking pretty much the same as you. and then 'dial' in the space or room simulation you want. The whole concept of Valhalla Room and 'making it useful' as you so put it, is to pick certain instruments, be they vocals, guitar, strings, drums etc. The high praise for it in this forum is something I struggle to understand.Valhalla Room is a space simulator. I have no idea how to make Valhalla Room useful.
